Hong Leong Celebrates InternationAl Children’s Day

From around 45 children in need, CCF now educates up to 2,000 children to grow and prosper.

On 1st June 2019 Hong Leong Bank gathered children from Cambodian Children’s Fund a not-for-profit organization founded in 2004 by Scott Neeson to help get children living and working on the municipal garbage dump in Steung Meanchey, one of the impoverished areas in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh, into school. From around 45 children in need, CCF now educates up to 2,000 children to grow and prosper.

Hong Leong Bank, with the co-operation from Major Platinum Cineplex by Smart, provided 200 children with a wonderful International Children’s Day watching the movie Pokémon Detective Pikachu in a dedicated hall just for the children.

The CEO of Hong Leong Bank, Mr. Joe Farrugia stated: “We wanted to give the children a special treat. We also wanted them to have an enjoyable occasion on this globally recognized event of International Children’s Day. Hong Leong Bank will aim to help the community in more aspects that we can in the future. We want to give back to the people and this is just a small start for now”.

Apart from the cinema experience, Hong Leong Bank also made sure that the children did not leave the cinema empty-handed. Hong Leong Bank gave each child a branded gift bag of stationery for their education.
